This course is for geotechnical engineers with little or no prior knowledge of LUSAS, or for existing LUSAS users interested in exploring geotechnical modelling.
  • In summary

The course covers getting started with LUSAS and proceeds to cover in detail:
    • 2D geotechnical models, non-linear calculations, and the influence of water
    • Exploration of topics such as excavation, dewatering, structural support elements, and stability analysis
    • 3D geotechnical models, pile load test modelling, and soil-structure interaction

What will I learn about?

The course consists of online video sessions followed by the user carrying out worked examples on their own computer.

Quizzes are used to check the trainee's learning and a CPD certificate stating the number hours of study is available on successful completion of all quizzes.

LUSAS Modelling

Understanding modelling in LUSAS with feature geometry, meshing, engineering attributes, 2D and 3D modelling

Geotechnical analyses

Bearing capacity, stability analysis, excavation, staged construction

Geotechnical materials

Exploration of different geotechnical material models, defining initial stresses, creating soil-structure interfaces

Water analysis

Pore pressure, drained and undrained materials, phreatic surfaces, dewatering
